Heeg (Heegh) is one of 140 beautiful villages in beautiful Southwest Friesland. It is smûk (Frisian for cozy) here.

Heeg is the eldorado for water sports enthusiasts. The bustling village regularly hosts large and small events. Heechspanning on Ascension Day is well known, but also the Heechsimmer Festival is not to be missed. A snack and drink can be enjoyed on the terraces located along the water in the cozy and cozy center. Or take a walk and see the history of eel fishing reflected in the beautiful facades, stores and monumental buildings on either side.

Besides the Heegermeer, the Fluessen, the Poelen Route is also an absolute must. The Poelen area located between the water sports villages of Heeg, Gaastmeer and Oudega is a succession of small lakes, narrow ditches and creeks amid dense reed beds.

Nature, peace and quiet are the greatest values in this area. The boating route with culverts and fords takes you past farms, a bell tower and a bird watching spot, where the rich bird life in the Poelen area can be observed.
